Looking Forward and Giving Back

September 21st, 2009 by Jane N

I want to thank all of our summer visitors and our local customers for a wonderful first year. On July 4th, Needle in a Haystack celebrated the completion of its first year and thanks to all of you, it was a big success! I’ve learned a lot about our community in all its diversity, and I hope to continue to improve the products and services that we offer.

To that end, we have a full schedule of Friday Night Knit-ins and Knit Alongs for you to choose from. We will also be communicating up-coming events on Ravelry and at our new Facebook group.

I hope to get this web-site up to date and active, including an e-commerce interface so that all of our friends who live away from South Haven can continue to participate in our community throughout the year. So check us out from time to time and see what’s new!

I will continue to send out emails to let you know what is new – both in our shop and on the web.

Happy Knitting!

Party with Joe from SWTC

June 9th, 2009 by Jane N

Our reception and fashion show with Joe Raffino of South West Trading Company was a great success! Joe brought over 50 items knitted with SWTC yarns, and Jane and Alex tried many of them on.

We are building an order for SWTC based on the wish list of those attending. For example, SWTC has a number of projects based on the mitered square. A group of us will be beginning theses projects soon and will set aside an afternoon to knit together. Check out the Peacock’s Best Vest in Tranquility. You really have to see this one…It comes in a kit with a choice of 4 different color combinations, or choose your own combination. Other mitered square projects include the child’s mitered jacket and adult mitered jacket in Karaoke.

Other popular projects are the Tofu-Tee made from Tofu-tsies and the Comfy Coat in Saphira. Go to www.soysilk.com to see these wonderful projects and more!

I’ll be ordering soon, so check out the yarns and let me know what you would like!
